Free to Thrive
The Free to Thrive Legal Clinic is a legal service program serving victims of human trafficking in their recovery and transition from survivors to thrivers. This Clinic is an innovative collaboration with law firms, law students, academics, social service providers, law enforcement, and government agencies, and serves as an innovative model for pro bono legal services throughout the United States.
LASSD strengthens our community by fighting for justice. We provide low-income clients with free civil legal assistance, including legal advice and counsel, effective referrals, and legal representation. We are the largest poverty law firm serving San Diego County. We can help with many types of legal problems that individuals face. To thousands of San Diego residents living in poverty, justice is not an abstract ideal. It is food, shelter and protection. It is the difference between staying in poverty and getting out; between dependence and self-reliance. But without help, justice is often denied. We can assist with the areas of law listed below.
Our Mission: "To protect the rights, liberties, and dignity of all persons in San Diego County and maintain the integrity and fairness of the American Justice System by providing the finest legal representation in the cases entrusted to us."
There are office locations throughout the county. We provide quality legal assistance to individuals charged with a crime in state court who are financially unable to retain private counsel. Mental health and juvenile court matters are handled by special units within the office. Our office proudly reflects the diversity and high level of commitment necessary for our mission.
